Food For Better Thoughts
A recipe guide tailored to help your mental health.
Mission
Food For Better Thoughts is a recipe guide designed to empower college students to combat depression through the transformative power of healthy eating. The recipes are based around 4 different conditions that often accompany depression: anxiety, anger, fatigue, and self-esteem issues. Each recipe is thoughtfully crafted to be accessible, affordable, convenient, and most importantly delicious. Food For Better Thoughts emphasizes the importance of utilizing nutrition for healing and well-being as an alternative to traditional medicine. I am committed to providing the knowledge and resources needed to nourish our minds and bodies, one recipe at a time!
About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Olivia Reagan and I am a senior in the Honors College at the University of South Carolina. I am graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and working towards becoming a Physician Assistant. Over the past two years, I have been working on my Thesis, Food For Better Thoughts. I am extremely passionate about and prioritize nutrition, health, and wellness. I grew up very active and self-aware of my health habits. Once I began college, I observed a very high prevalence of mental health disorders and poor nutrition choices among my peers. Facing my own struggles in combination with my education, I realized how essential nutrition is for the brain. I am an advocate for mental health awareness and choosing holistic approaches. I believe accessible support, including nutrition guidance, is essential for everyone. I know first-hand how scary it may be for some to seek medical help due to cost, stigma, and convenience and I want to help students overcome these barriers. Through my Thesis, I hope students are welcomed by the idea of diet intervention as a method of alleviating depressive symptoms.
